Software as a Service (SaaS)
In past, companies obtained software applications on CDs and other media and used their own hardware to install and run them. This meant that a company not only has to train employees in the use of the software but also get skill-sets to maintain as well as upgrade the application from time to time. Slowly the industry has been moving towards a new delivery model called 'Software as a Service' or SaaS in short. In this model a software vendor is responsible for hosting, maintaining, upgrading and disaster recovery of the software and the vendor just pays for the use of the software. The vendor generally maintains a set of central servers and customers connect to it through internet to use the desired softwares. In short SaaS is simply the idea that instead of paying for software and running them on your server, you should be able to buy the 'service' you want and let somebody else manage it. North Anchor has helped vendors with developing and implementing SaaS solutions that they are able to then provide to other customers. You can read more about this in 'SaaS Development'
